Whinfell Forest welcomes their biggest ever lodge

Our six-bedroom Woodland Lodge is coming to Whinfell Forest in 2019!

With the most bedrooms under one roof, the six-bedroom Woodland Lodge features spacious bedrooms, family bathrooms and shower rooms and large open-plan living space, it’s perfect for big families or groups of friends.

With an American-style fridge-freezer, double oven, double sink and eight-burner hob, the kitchen caters for your big group and even if you decide to leave the cooking to someone else you could always pop to one of our restaurants or order Dining In.

The same as Sherwood Forest’s six-bedroom Woodland Lodge, there’s plenty of space around the dining table to get together, before curling up on the two generous corner sofas in front of the log fire and you can put a film on the flat screen TV.

If the weather holds up, head out on to the large patio, with brick-built barbeque stand and patio furniture, perfect for those al fresco evenings.

This six-bedroom Woodland Lodge is only available to book through our Contact Centre. Give them a call on 03448 267723.

Explore all other accommodation or book your Center Parcs break now.

Together for Short Lives

Our charity partner Together for Short Lives treasures the same thing we do; family time, and is the leading charity that speaks out for the 49,000 children and young people who are living with life-limiting conditions in the UK.

Our aim is to raise awareness and funds to support these families and to support our local hospices that are:

Since the start of our partnership in 2016, we have raised more than £430,000 by doing lots of different events and match funding our guest donations through our Contact Centre.

How we’ve raised awareness

If you’ve visited Center Parcs, you may have seen some of our fundraising events from ducks racing down our Wild Water Rapids to teams completing as many activities as they can in one day.

Members of staff from departments across Longleat Forest brought the Center Parcs experience to Children’s Hospice South West, offering activities including face painting and massages to visiting families.

We donate a number of breaks to families supported by Together for Short Lives and recently Chris, Hannah, Jacob, Samuel and Maxwell went on a Center Parcs break. They said they ‘had such a great time, it was lovely spending time together away from the demands of every day. The staff were so very helpful, they arranged a fully adapted accommodation and we were able to keep our adapted vehicle with us for the duration of our stay.’ They went cycling, swimming and fed the wildlife that came up to their lodge. They ended their break ‘so grateful to Center Parcs and Together for Short Lives for giving us this experience and a much-needed break away’.

Duck Races

Across our villages, we have our Duck Races, where hundreds of rubber ducks travel down our rapids in a race for first place. You can sponsor a numbered duck and cheer them on when the race takes place at our Wild Water Rapids viewing points.

A two-wheel triumph

An epic five-day challenge to cycle from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas was taken up by Andy De’Ath, Longleat Forest’s General Manager, and his friend Colin. The dedicated duo battled through high desert, forest plateaus, canyon rims, historic towns and part of Route 6, raising over £11,000 for Together for Short Lives.

All in a day

Members of staff from across our villages have been taking part in our ‘all in a day’ challenge to see who can complete as many activities across the village as possible. So, if you see them on village, please feel free to cheer them on.

London Marathon

Several members of staff have taken part in London Marathon’s to raise awareness and funds for Together for Short Lives, completing training and the 26.2 miles. This year’s runner was Carolyn Anderson who works at Sherwood Forest, she raised £3,000 when she took part in the London Marathon this year.

Conquer the Forest 2018

Designed to highlight the benefits of outdoor teambuilding and allow businesses to experience what we have to offer first hand, the competition spanned three days across June and July and saw teams of four from each company take on the ultimate team-build challenge for their chance to win a teambuilding day for 10 at one of our locations across the UK.

Teams took to the lake for their first challenge, a Pedalo time trial, before engaging in battle around the field in an all-out Laser Combat tournament.

The winning team, Sterling Partners, climbed their way up the leaderboard having gained the most points from the challenges, as well as earning bonus points from social media activity.

Alongside the challenges, teams enjoyed a warm-up round of Adventure Golf, as well as breakfast and lunch in the dedicated events, space The Venue, hosted by the Center Parcs Conferences & Events team.

Center Parcs offers a unique and refreshing alternative to conferences and events at four locations across the UK – Sherwood Forest, Elveden Forest, Longleat Forest and Woburn Forest.

Recipe: Cold Brew Coffee – for iced coffee or lollipops

Cold-brew is simply coffee that is steeped in water overnight then filtered. It produces a smooth coffee essence perfect for making into a range of coffee flavoured treats. The cold-brew process supposedly draws out different flavour compounds to a standard hot-brewed coffee leaving you with a sweeter flavour and less acidic bitterness.

Make a batch to store in the fridge, just whisk into milk for a cold-brew latte or make it into coffee ice cubes so you don’t dilute your drink. As there are fewer acids in it, it keeps well in the fridge.

Or how about some totally moreish, creamy, coffee lollipops? These are sweetened with condensed milk, which is how the Vietnamese drink their coffee. We can see why it makes it so delicious. I made mine with a contrasting Americano layer for a two-tone effect.

You can use it as a base for a cold-brew martini too! Take 1 measure of undiluted cold-brew coffee with 1 measure of vodka and 1 measure of coffee liqueur and shake it all up in a cocktail shaker with lots of ice.

Cold Brew Ingredients

110g Coffee Beans (or very coarsely ground coffee)
1litre cold water

Iced Coffee

Cold Brew
Water
Milk or Cream
Sugar to taste – or condensed milk

1 Roughly grind the coffee beans to the texture of grit…or couscous!
2 Pour over 1 litre of water and stir
3 Cover and chill in the fridge for 12-14 hours
4 Sieve out the coffee grains then filter through a piece of muslin 2-3 times
5 Can be kept covered in the fridge for a week or two, for instant iced coffees
6 Dilute with water or milk for iced coffee
7 Whisk in sugar or condensed milk to sweeten

Cold Brew Lollipops

525ml Cold Brew
150ml Condensed Milk
Caster Sugar (if making two-tone)
Water

1 Mix 350ml or cold brew with 170ml of water and 150ml of condensed milk.
2 Pour into a lolly mould and freeze overnight
3 For two-tone lollies, fill 3/4 of the mould – freeze for 2 hours
4 Mix 175 cold brew and 80ml of water with 3 tsp caster sugar until dissolved
5 Use this mix to top up the moulds
