How an activity at Center Parcs can lead to greater things

Phoebe Pine

Back in 2012, Phoebe was at Longleat Forest with her family and they decided to take part in lots of activities. One of these was archery and even with her disability Phoebe gave it a good go and enjoyed herself.

Phoebe enjoyed herself that much that after her break she had a number of coaching sessions with a local club, which she continues to be a member of now.

Now, six years later, Phoebe’s a member of the GB Paralympic archery team currently holding the European indoor individual record and shot a European outdoor record in 2017. That archery session that sparked her interest at Longleat Forest has lead Phoebe onto great success.

Jake Ward

Returning from a recent show jumping competition, Jake was asked ‘how did you get into that?’ Well, Jake was 7 years old when he nervously took part in a family horse riding session on a break at Whinfell Forest.

Jake loved it so much that he insisted that his family do the same activity the following day. After his family short break, Jake returned home desperate to learn how to ride horses and has passionately followed his dream ever since.

Jake currently competes in global show jumping events and his latest result placed him 2nd, only milliseconds behind first place. Jake shows that trying an activity for the first time might be nerve-racking but could lead to something incredible.

Phoebe and Jake have both had great opportunities to try our activities, and we wish them all the best in future competitions.

Browse our activities and see if you find something that interests you and your family.

The easiest way to experience Huck’s

Some of our restaurants have opened up their banquets as a pre-bookable opportunity, a hassle-free way of introducing your family to the best of what our favourite restaurants have to offer.

Easy eating at Huck’s

Huck’s American Bar and Grill is a big hit across all our villages with a relaxed atmosphere, great food and plenty of entertainment for the little ones, it really is the ideal place for a family meal. Before you arrive on village you can now pre-book a Huck’s experience menu, which is the perfect way to feed all the family.

Start off with a sharing platter including BBQ wings, nachos and dips and Jalapeno and sweetcorn fritters. There’s something for everyone to enjoy and a great way to begin the Huck’s experience.

Then move on to a selection of the new Huck’s main meals including:

  • The Texan Burger
  • Pulled Beef Chilli
  • Rich Bean Chilli
  • Sizzlin’ Fajitas – Available with either chicken or vegetables
  • Fallin’-off-the-bone Pork Ribs
  • Half Chicken
  • Salmon Fillet
  • Good old Mac ‘n’ Cheese
  • Classic Caesar Salad – Available with chicken

For little ones, the Lil’ Huck’s Buffet is open. Before they head into the soft play area or to the Apple Macs, they can head to the buffet as soon as the family sits down in the restaurant.

It’s all polished off for little ones with a selected bottomless soft drink, and for adults, a pint of Coors Light, a small glass of house wine or a soft drink.

Not the only ones

Dining In and Rajinda Pradesh are also offering a pre-bookable experience, with their own little twists.

Rajinda Pradesh already offers an experience on their authentic menu, but now you can book this in advance when you book your table. You’ll get a poppadum platter to share, followed by starter platter with some of our favourites including crispy onion bhajis and butternut squash samosas. Then move on to a classic curry from our delicious range of Indian dishes and add a rice and naan bread to share. All polished off with a bottle of Cobra, glass of house wine or a soft drink of your choice.

At Dining In you can now pre-book one of their set menus, so if you know you’re fancying a Chinese, Indian or a pizza one night, book it early so you don’t have to spend lots of time deciding what to eat that evening.

Something got the taste buds going? Make a restaurant reservation or book your next break to come and taste some of our fabulous food.

Top tips to make the most of your break

1. Our villages are set in 400 acres of woodland, so if you want to be close to all the action be sure to check our village maps and select a location preference with a specific lodge – for a small charge. If you’re not fussed about location, we’ll pick your lodge for you.

2. Get ahead and book your activities, restaurants and the Aqua Sana Spa up to six months before you arrive! Always remember that places are limited, so by booking these early you’ll put your mind at ease and no one will be disappointed. All you need to do is log-in to your account and decide which activities you want to do.

3. Cycling is the easiest way to explore all our villages. Bring your own or hire a cycle to get around our acres of woodland. From adult and junior mountain bikes to tandems and trailers, there’s a cycle for everyone.

4. 10 or more adults? Why not speak to one of our personal event planners? Give our Contact Centre a call for more information on 08448 266 200. They will help to organise your activities and restaurant bookings. They can even arrange special session just for your group including Paintballing, Tree Trekking and more.

5. Save time on your arrival by checking in all your guests and your car registrations within your personal Center Parcs account. Invite your guests to the booking on the edit guest details page so they can register their own details and car registration, saving time gathering up all the information.

6. Celebrating a special occasion? Then let us know! Whether it be a birthday, anniversary or honeymoon you can pre-order one of our gifts to surprise that special someone.

7. If you have any special dietary requirements, including allergies, let the restaurant staff know before placing your order so we can serve you up a delicious dinner.

8. There’s no special dress code at Center Parcs but we would advise that you dress appropriately for any activities and exploring you’ll be doing. So wear your practical footwear and comfy clothes and always remember to bring clothing for all weathers, just in case!

9. Don’t worry about packing everything for your little ones, our lodges are equipped with baby’s cots and a highchair. All you’ll need to bring is bedding for the baby’s cot but all your beds will be made up with fresh linen before you arrive.

10. ParcMarket is our village supermarket, stocked with your favourite brands like Heinz, Kellogg’s, Ella’s Kitchen, Pepsi, Walkers and much more. If you spend more than £40 we’ll deliver your food for free, and will even put perishables into your fridge.

Have we missed anything? What are your top tips for a Center Parcs break?

May you have the best half term

The gloomy weather is going and it’s time for sunshine to pour through the forest, shining off the surface of the lake. So enjoy some quality family time, with the sun warming your back as you explore Center Parcs and all our activities this May half term.

Head to the lake

With the best views on the village, our lakes are the perfect place to get that perfect picture and to have lots of fun. Go easy with an Electric Boat, test your balance in Stand Up Paddle Boarding or become a Mini Captain. Whatever you choose you can enjoy a well-earned ice cream on the sandy beaches.

Dine al fresco

Nothing screams ‘summer is here’ more than enjoying great food in our great outdoors. From eating a stack of pancakes outside The Pancake House in the morning to a chilled beer and a perfectly-cooked steak on the terrace of Café Rouge – be sure to make the most of the half-term weather.

Make a splash

When the sun is shining, hit the outdoor pools in the Subtropical Swimming Paradise. Better yet, if the weather turns, you can head indoors and at a balmy 29.5C, it’ll still feel like the sun is shining. Let your little ones dip their toes into our water play areas or try one of our pool activities.

Outdoor fun

Take advantage of the nice weather! Whether you’re zipping down the zip wire on Aerial Adventure. around our Quad Bike Safari track or solving the general’s mission in Laser Combat, there are so many family adventures for you to try.

Indoor adventures

There are still so many indoor activities to keep you sheltered from the rain. Challenge yourself to an Indoor Climbing Adventure, squeeze through our Caving Adventure or play an indoor sport like Badminton or Table Tennis.

Big fun for little ones

Your little adventurers can try Mini Trek or, if you’ve got a little one who’s into cars, let them have a drive in Off-Road Explorers. Whatever their interests there’ll be a big adventure for them at Center Parcs.

Something here your family will love? Take a look at our range of activities or book a May half-term break to discover all this and more.

Recipe: Breakfast Bowls

There are lots of versions out there with fancy ingredients such as bright pink acai or blue spirulina, but here are three simple recipes to help you pretty up your breakfast.

Each one includes a ‘thickener’ like frozen banana, chia seeds or oats, plus a milk or milk substitute and then tasty, fruity additions, designed to help you fit in your five a day with some additional nutrients too. They are an easy way to make a non-dairy, vegan or gluten-free breakfast packed with all the superfoods.

With each of these options, you can make 1 large serving or two smaller ones. I save half and blend with extra milk to make a smoothie for later.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana

2 Frozen Bananas (peeled and sliced)
80ml Almond Milk – or any other milk
2 Tblsp Nut Butter
1-2 Tbsp Cacao or Cocoa Powder

Tips
• Add a Tbsp of chia seeds or oats if you are not eating this straight away as the frozen banana will soften up.
• Cacao is made from cold-pressed cocoa beans and retains extra enzymes and nutrients

Method
1 Peel, slice and freeze the bananas overnight.
2 Blend all the ingredients together until smooth.
3 Add more milk if you need to thin it, or honey to sweeten.

Topping Suggestions
Sliced Banana
Toasted Nuts or seeds
Chocolate Covered Seeds
Cocoa Nibs or Shards
Chocolate Granola
A drizzle of nut butter

Red Berries and Overnight Oats

80g Rolled Oats
250g Plain Yoghurt
150ml Almond Milk or semi-skimmed milk
A punnet of your favourite red berries: raspberries, strawberries etc

Tips
• For a speedy version use fruit yoghurt instead of plain and just stir in a few fresh berries, leave out the pureed fruit
• Sieve the fruit if you don’t like pips
• Fruit compote from a jar is another quick alternative

Method
1 Mix the oats, milk and yoghurt and leave in the fridge overnight
2 In the morning blend fresh or frozen berries and sweeten with honey
3 Stir into the oats

Topping Suggestions
Sliced Strawberries
Raspberries
Rolled Oats,
Seed Mix
Pomegranate Seeds

Blueberry Coconut

1 Can of Coconut Milk
30g Chia Seeds
2 Tbsp Desiccated Coconut
Honey to sweeten
A punnet of Blueberries, fresh or frozen

Tips
• Sieve the blueberries for a smoother blend
• You can make this the night before, but the coconut milk and chia set in the fridge so just whisk through a little milk or water to soften
• Chia are little seeds packed with nutrients, they can be used as a crunchy topping but when mixed with liquid they swell and thicken it, a little like tapioca

Method
1 Mix the coconut milk, chia seeds and coconut and leave to thicken for 1/2 an hour or more in the fridge
2 Blend and sieve the blueberries
3 If the berries are tart, sweeten with honey then stir into the chia mix

Topping Suggestions
Fresh Blueberries
Dried Blueberries
Fresh Blackberries
Coconut
Chia Seeds

Center Parcs mag nieuw park bouwen in Limburg

Vakantiehuisje in eigen land boeken?

Aanzienlijk goedkoper. Ook voor een huisje in eigen land.
...

Omzet 6,5% omhoog

Groupe Pierre & Vacances-Center Parcs: First-Half Revenue1 up 6.5%

1] First-half revenue
The revenue and financial indicators commented on in this press release stem from operating reporting with the presentation of joint-ventures under proportional consolidation.

* Adjusted for the impact of:
- the shift from April 2017 to March 2018, of the start of Easter weekend and the school holidays for certain foreign customers (German in particular).
- for PVTE, the net reduction in the assets operated, due to the non-renewal of leases and withdrawals from loss-making sites.
- for CPE, net growth in the assets operated, prompted by the opening of Villages Nature Paris and the extension of the Center Parcs Domaine des Trois Forêts. This increase in the offer was partially offset by the part closure of the Center Parcs at Vielsalm in Q1 under the framework of the domain's renovation.

** including Villages Nature Paris (€7.6m over the first half (including €4.5m in Q2), of which €5.5m in accommodation revenue (€3.1m in Q2)).

Under IFRS accounting rules, first-half revenue for 2017/2018 totalled €621.7 million (€556.6 million for the tourism activities and €65.1 million for the property development activities), compared with €586.9 million in the first half of 2016/2017 (€520.3 million for tourism and €66.6 million for property development).

1 The revenue and financial indicators commented on in this press release stem from operating reporting with the presentation of joint-ventures under proportional consolidation.

  • Tourism revenue

Q2 2017/2018Revenue from the tourism activities rose 10.7% to €322.8 million compared with Q2 of the previous year.

Accommodation revenue totalled €195.5 million, up +3.8% like-for-like (i.e. excluding the impact of supply effects and the shift in the school holidays), ahead of the 2.2% growth reported in Q1.

  • Pierre & Vacances Tourisme Europe contributed €105.5 million.
    On a like-for-like basis, revenue rose 4.9% (vs. 3.7% in Q1):
    • Revenue from the Adagio residences continued to rise, by 8.1% over the quarter, driven primarily by higher net average letting rates.
    • Revenue from other destinations rose 3.6%, benefiting from an average occupancy rate close to 94% for the mountain residences and growth in revenue at all seaside sites (mainland France, the French West Indies and Spain).
  • Center Parcs Europe1 contributed €90.0 million.
Like-for-like revenue rose by 2.5% (vs. +1.2% in Q1) spread between 2.8% for the Belgian, German and Dutch Domains and +1.9% for the French Domains.

In H1 2017/2018:

Revenue from the tourism businesses totalled €570.1 million, up 7% relative to H1 2016/2017.

Accommodation turnover totalled €357.1 million, up +3% like-for-like, with growth in revenue at all the destinations: almost +8% for city residences, +2% for seaside and mountain destinations and +2% for the Center Parcs Domains.

Revenue from the other tourism businesses grew by almost 8%, with a rise of 10% for Pierre & Vacances Tourisme Europe, driven by the development of maeva.com, and +5% for Center Parcs Europe1.

  • Property development revenue

With Q2 revenue in line with the expected phasing of programmes, property development revenue stood at €84.8 million in H1 2017/2018, compared with €81.9 million in H1 2016/2017, driven primarily by the contribution from the Pierre & Vacances premium residence in Deauville (€13.1million), Villages Nature Paris (€11.1 million) and the Seniorales residences (€38.3 million).

Property reservations registered with individual investors in H1 represented business volumes of €164.5m, ahead of the level recorded during the first half of the previous year (€154.9 million).

2] Outlook

  • The Group's first-half earnings are structurally loss-making due to the seasonal nature of its activities.
2017/2018 first-half earnings will be affected by:
    • the booking in the second half of signatures for property renovation programmes at Center Parcs;
    • the gradual ramp-up of Villages Nature Paris (especially by the staggered delivery of the last accommodation units over H1), associated with the seasonal nature of the tourism business.
  • In view of the portfolio of reservations to date, the Group is forecasting growth in like-for-like tourism revenue in Q3 2017/2018 relative to the year-earlier period.
  • Given the outlook for the tourism and property businesses in H2, the Group confirms its target for growth in underlying EBIT over 2017/2018 relative to the level seen in 2016/2017.
