Deze zomer gaat naar verwachting 70% van de Nederlanders op vakantie, dat zijn er bijna 12 miljoen. Het buitenland heeft met 72% van de vakantieplannen de grootste aantrekkingskracht, maar opvallend is dat meer Nederlanders dit jaar de voorkeur geven aan een vakantie in eigen land. Dit blijkt uit grootschalig onderzoek naar de vakantieplannen van de Nederlandse bevolking van NBTC-NIPO Research.

“Het mooie zomerweer van 2018 heeft een positief effect op de zomervakantieplannen in eigen land dit jaar. We zien dat het aantal vakantieplannen voor vakanties naar het buitenland vooralsnog achterblijft ten opzichte van vorig jaar,” aldus Marieke Politiek, directeur NBTC-NIPO Research.

Aqua Sana Longleat Forest undergoes £4.7m refurbishment turning their World of Spa concept into a forest-inspired spa
Work has started on the Aqua Sana Spa located in the heart of Center Parcs Longleat Forest. The refurbishment work on the Wiltshire-based woodland spa includes an extension of the spa building and transformation of the existing experience rooms from the World of Spa concept to a Forest Spa.
Aqua Sana opened at Center Parcs Longleat Forest in 2001, as the brand’s own spa for short break guests, with spa days being introduced a few years later. Now, the spa attracts 38,000 people for spa days each year as well as 35,000 Center Parcs guests for spa sessions, holding its own in the spa industry as a respected standalone spa brand.
Previously housing a World of Spa collection of 15 thermal and cooling spa experiences from around the globe, a number of treatment rooms and an outdoor spa pool, the spa will expand with all experiences and relaxation areas being changed into experiences which make more of nature.
The new experiences will celebrate the seasons, ice and frost, rainforest showers, hot springs and will stimulate the senses that would usually be awakened by being in a natural environment. There will also be experiences never seen before at Aqua Sana, exclusive to Longleat Forest, to be revealed.
The project stretches over five phases lasting 14 months, and will be complete in December this year. When the spa is complete, it will boast 25 experiences, all inspired by forests around the world from the steamy tropics to the icy arctic.

“The forest environment has inspired us to change the experiences we offer to make the most of nature. The reaction we have had from guests at Sherwood Forest when we altered the spa there last year to Forest Spa was incredible and we want to bring this great concept to Longleat Forest this year.
Where many spas may only have a spa pool, a handful of spa experience rooms and treatment menu, Aqua Sana Longleat Forest will have 25 spa experiences even before you even reach the extensive treatment menu. The beauty of an Aqua Sana spa day is that it should feel like yours with the ability to design your own spa journey. This really appeals to spa aficionados and first timers alike. We also have an incredible team who go above and beyond for our guests and they are already really excited about giving spa guests something new to try.”

De kaartverkoop van gezondheidsfestival Healthy Fest gaat hard: het evenement dat bij aanvang van de zomer plaatsvindt is bijna uitverkocht. De organisatie maakt vanaf nu iedere week een nieuwe reeks namen en programmaonderdelen bekend. Dit meldt Healthy Fest.
De meest recente toevoegingen aan het festival zijn onder andere de Mindful Run, Piloxing, Coach voor je leven, Body and Mind Control, LARZ the energy man en Klaas Boomsma. Laatstgenoemde is auteur van het boek Ren voor je leven, en columnist bij Women's Health. Hij zal op Healthy Fest vertellen over zijn hardlooppassie.

Vakantiepark Terhills opent pas einde 2020
De bouw van het vakantieresort op Terhills start dit voorjaar. De raad van bestuur van Terhills NV besliste over de aanbesteding van de bouwwerken en gaf zo groen licht voor de realisatie van de woningen en de infrastructuur van het resort. Verwacht wordt dat het vakantiepark in het najaar van 2020 haar deuren zal openen. Het resort krijgt 250 vakantievilla’s met een duurzaam karakter die ingebed worden in de natuur.
De Limburgse Investeringsmaatschappij, LRM, heeft als opdracht om de voormalige mijnsite van Eisden met haar unieke industriële erfgoed om te vormen tot een bovenregionale toeristische bestemming. De Raad van Bestuur geeft vandaag groen licht voor de realisatie van de vakantiewoningen en infrastructuur. Het totale investeringsbedrag waarvoor goedkeuring werd gegeven is 56 miljoen euro.
De Raad heeft beslist dat finale onderhandelingen kunnen aangevat worden met Willemen Construct als aannemer voor de bouw van de vakantievilla’s. Voor het lot infrastructuur gaat het over de THV Willemen Infra/ Van de Kreeke/ Aertssen. De beslissing werd genomen na een uitgebreide analyse van de verschillende voorstellen in de aanbestedingsprocedure. Binnen het consortium van Willemen Construct zijn verschillende andere onderaannemers betrokken. Eén daarvan is MBS, die zal instaan voor de productie en bouw van de houtskeletwoningen.
De centrale faciliteiten zoals het zwembad en de centrale voorzieningen komen later in het bouwtraject aan bod. De aanbestedingsprocedure van dit deel van de werken loopt momenteel nog. Een gunningsbeslissing wordt nog voor de zomer genomen.

New gravity-defying cyclone slide set to open at Center Parcs in Sherwood Forest next week
A giant gravity-defying slide is set to open next week at Center Parcs' Sherwood Forest holiday village. The Tropical Cyclone which is the largest slide in Europe to boast audio and visual interactive technology, is set to open at the Subtropical Swimming Paradise on Friday, March 1.
Able to take four people on a raft at a time, the 125 metre slide will drop 13 metres from the start to the end. A spokesman speaking about the £15 million facelift to the Swimming Paradise, said: “This is exciting for both guests and staff at Sherwood Forest. "This new Tropical Cyclone ride is a four person raft ride with 125 metres of twists, turns and gravity-defying drops and added audio-visual themes to choose from." Also available at Elveden Forest, Longleat Forest and Woburn Forest, the slide is one of the most exciting rides Center Parcs has to offer.
