Earlier this year, we introduced a new menu at Sports Cafe, filled to the brim with everything from avocado toast to artisanal tea, brilliant burgers to chocolate sundaes. Sports Cafe is the heart of our villages, and the perfect place for family dining, whatever the time of day. These are some of the latest offers we’ve introduced – which will be available during the week on selected breaks only – to ensure we’re hitting the right note for you and your family.

Start your day differently

Start your day the right way and tuck into the Sharing Breakfast Platter (£19.95) before 10am. Six rollsfilled with your choice of bacon or sausage, six hash browns and a pitcher of chilled orange juice. It’s the perfect fuel for a busy day of activities.

If you can’t eat breakfast for six, there’s one for four and It’s a Winner (£24.95). Available until noon, buy two adult breakfasts (with tea or coffee) and two children’s four-item-breakfasts (with fruit juice). Perfect for feeding the little ones whether they’re fussy eater or a little gourmet in the making.

Thanks a brunch

Don’t worry if the breakfast slot is a bit too early and you need a little lie in – the Brunch Time Special (£10) is available from 10am to 12 noon. From avocado to baked beans, choose any two toasted dishes for an ideal mid-morning snack if you missed breakfast…or even if you didn’t!

Fuel your afternoon

Whether you want a quick lunch or to take your time, Sports Café provides the place and the food for both. Whether you’re into sports or not, be Top Of The League and get free chips when you order any sandwich or melt – between 12 noon and 5pm – turning your sandwich into a feast!

Pit stop

Treat your family to a pit stop and then it’s Game On (£29.95) for the rest of the day. Get a pitcher of Carling or Bombardier, or a bottle of Casa Albali Verdejo Sauvignon Blanc, Tempranillo Shiraz or Vendange White Zinfandel, with any four of our small sharing bowls  – ideal for any quiet time after 12 noon.

Time to unwind

Even with all the activities available at Center Parcs, there’s always time to relax and unwind. With no booking needed, team up with Sports Café to make the ultimate Dream Team (£34.95). Choose two dishes from the classic burger or salad ranges and choose a bottle of Casa Albali Verdejo Sauvignon Blanc or Tempranillo Shiraz and dine in style – whether team white or red, wind down your day and prepare for the next.

Bijzondere verblijven en vakantieparken: een goede match?

Glamping is al jaren een trend die ook anno 2017 nog steeds in populariteit toeneemt. Deze luxe vorm van kamperen deed zijn intrede via de campings, maar inmiddels raakt glamping ook bij de gevestigde bungalowparken steeds meer ingeburgerd.

Bijzondere accommodaties

Dat glamping (oftewel glamorous kamperen) hot is, is een understatement. Waar glamping in eerste instantie het luxere kampeerwerk in vooropgezette safaritenten met wat ligbedjes en een keukentje betrof, lijkt de term nu een veel bredere lading te dekken. Ik noem het maar "bijzonder overnachten". Zo kun je overnachten in een boomhut, yurt, strandhuisje, glamtainer, woonboot of zelfs helicopter. Je kunt het zo gek niet bedenken. Zo lang het outdoor gevoel maar aanwezig is en het geen stenen bungalow betreft.

De safaritenten (tegenwoordig ook wel lodgetenten of zelfs lodgesuites genoemd) doen het ook nog altijd uitstekend, zij het vaak nóg luxer. Sommige varianten overtreffen zelfs een goede hotelkamer. Boxsprings, bad op pootjes, een flatscreen televisie en wifi zijn geen uitzondering.

Deze hippe vorm van overnachten is ook de grotere Nederlandse vakantiepark-ketens niet ontgaan. Zowel Center Parcs als Landal GreenParks zijn hier actief op ingesprongen en hebben ook onlangs nog nieuwe glamping-achtige uitbreidingen gedaan.

Unieke overnachtingen bij Center Parcs

Bij Center Parcs zien we vergelijkbare ontwikkelingen. De standaard geschakelde bungalows van weleer zijn er nog steeds, maar er is een keur aan nieuwe verblijfsmogelijkheden bijgekomen. Van complete boomhuizen (in Duitsland en Frankrijk) tot woonboten (o.a. bij De Eemhof en De Kempervennen) tot houten "avontuur cottages" bij Center Parcs Les Trois Forêts (Frankrijk). En jawel: zelfs Center Parcs heeft afgelopen zomer enkele safaritenten geplaatst in Center Parcs Port Zélande in Zeeland.

Uniek is ook de "Jungle Cabana" van Center Parcs Het Heijderbos in Limburg. Deze basic huisjes, gemaakt van natuurlijke materialen, bevinden zich in de Jungle Dome van het park. Ze hebben een privéveranda aan de rand van de "exotische jungle".

Vluchtelingen in Sunparks Kempense Meren

Sunparks Kempense Meren verleent zijn volledige medewerking aan een onderzoek van het Antwerpse parket naar mensensmokkel. In het vakantiepark in Mol zou 40 keer een huisje zijn geboekt om illegale Iraniërs te laten verblijven die op doorreis waren naar Engeland. Omdat ze vervalste identiteitspapieren hadden, leek alles in orde zegt Sunparks dat geen argwaan koesterde. De feiten dateren van 2015 en 2016.

Pumpkin Carving Workshop

Age: 3 years +

Where: All villages

What’s it all about: It’s that time of year where the traditional pumpkin twinkles in the spooky night. Come along and create your own spooky character – pumpkins provided. Halloween wouldn’t be the same without pumpkin carving, so make sure all you ghosts and ghouls check out this activity with your family.

Spooky Pirate and Princess Party

Age: 3-7 years

Where: All villages

What’s it all about: Your little ones’ Halloween adventure will be full of games, makeovers, music and creative activities followed by spooky snacks. Meanwhile, you can relax in the knowledge that your mini monsters are safe, well cared for and having a spook-tacular time in the Activity Den.

Halloween Pumpkin Hunt

Age: 2-5 years

Where: All villages

What’s it all about: Search for pumpkin clues in this fun family adventure. Make sure you don’t stray too far from the path…who knows what may be lurking among the trees? Your little ones will have a ghoulishly delighting time wandering for the clues – be sure to head to the Activity Den first though.

Monster Making

Age: 3-7 years

Where: All villages

What’s it all about: A Halloween craft session with a distinctly spooky feel, where each child will design and make their own monster wreath door hanger. Why not try it? It’s the hands-on way to get creative this Halloween! The grown ups will be able to assist throughout the session. Don’t worry if you’re stuck for inspiration, one of our creative Activity Den team will be on hand with lots of pre-printed ideas and pictures.

Huck’s Haunted Halloween

Age: All ages

Where: All villages

What’s it about: In the deepest, darkest night, the Halloween fun continues with a themed evening and our friendly staff dressing in spooky costumes. The whole family’s welcome to come and make the most of all the ghostly goings-on. Children can dress in their own scary costumes or masks to take part in the fun. Tuck into our celebrated Huck’s American Bar and Grill menu, and a terrifyingly terrific night is guaranteed for all. Please note: A £5.00 deposit per person is required and is redeemable from your final bill.
