Vakantie in eigen land: het is en blijft een aanrader. Zeker nu er met Terhills Resort by Center Parcs een nieuwe toeristische trekpleister op de bucketlist prijkt.
Een kleinschalig, duurzaam en autovrij ‘vakantiepark buiten categorie’: dat was de opzet van de Limburgse Investeringsmaatschappij LRM en Center Parcs toen de plannen voor de realisatie van Terhills Resort vorm kregen. Beide partijen bliezen de voormalige mijnsite van Eisden en de bijbehorende natuur sinds de jaren 90 nieuw leven in, om er vanaf heden (eindelijk) de vruchten van te plukken. “Terhills Resort is goed voor een investering van meer dan 100 miljoen euro – de grootste in onze geschiedenis! – en vormt het orgelpunt van een lang herbestemmingstraject”, zegt Tom Vanham, CEO bij LRM. “De realisatie van het vakantiepark kadert in een van de meest duurzame transformaties van het land. Er is maar liefst 219 hectare gesaneerd: 100 hectare werd teruggegeven aan de natuur, 119 hectare is beschikbaar voor recreatieve en toeristische ontwikkelingen zoals Terhills Resort, dat in totaal 65 hectare bestrijkt.”

The annual awards were held on Monday 2 August and saw Aqua Sana Sherwood Forest winning the Best Day Spa at the Good Spa Awards while also being shortlisted in two other categories – Aqua Sana Woburn Forest, in Bedfordshire, for Best Retreat Spa and Aqua Sana Longleat Forest, in Wiltshire, for Best Countryside Getaway.
We spoke to Kay Pennington, Group Spa Manager, who states “Since we launched our Forest Spa concept in 2017 this is the fourth time Aqua Sana Sherwood has been recognised by the Good Spa Guide. We are very fortunate to have a fantastic product in a beautiful location within the forest , however I truly believe that it is down to the individual team members at Aqua Sana Sherwood who are committed and driven to drive excellent service. They are a very passionate and motivated team and we have all stayed in close contact during the pandemic to come back stronger than ever. In 2017, Aqua Sana Sherwood Forest underwent a £3m refurbishment to introduce the first Forest Spa, bringing together 25 experiences to harness the proven benefits of forest bathing. Set across six spa zones – Nordic Forest, Treetop Escape, Treetop Nesting, Volcanic Forest, Hot Springs and Forest Immersion – the spa also has a heated outdoor pool, as well as a number of treatment rooms, and express treatment areas.

Offering a range of luxurious treatments from well-known product houses Elemis and Decléor, Aqua Sana has recently begun working with VOYA to deliver their organic seaweed-based treatments, which are suitable for those who have been treated for cancer or who are undergoing cancer treatment. Aqua Sana also offers two treatments designed by their own therapists, using Aqua Sana own brand products.

Dankzij haar heldhaftige optreden werd zijn leven gered. ,,Maar ik wil ook ouders waarschuwen. Wij zijn geen oppas. Laat je kinderen nooit alleen en laat ze een zwemvest dragen.”
