Cycling at Center Parcs

Our car-light villages are set in up to 400 acres of picturesque woodland, and one of the best ways to get around is by hiring a cycle from our Cycle Centre.

At the Cycle Centre our helpful, knowledgeable staff will make sure you get exactly the right equipment for your height, age and ability as well as the correct accessories to keep you and your family safe and comfortable. From junior and adult mountain bikes to tag-a-longs and trailers and tandems, we have every option you can think of.

We recommend that if you’re cycling around our villages that you wear a helmet. If you don’t have your own, helmets are available to buy or hire from the Cycle Centre.

Get into cycling

Here are some activities that are available on all villages that will inspire the little ones to become the next cycling superstar, or give the adults the chance to work up a sweat.

Baby Balance Bike Buddy

For who: 10 months+

What’s it all about: Designed to help your little ones find their feet on our new baby balance bikes, it’ll teach them all about agility, balance and coordination. Help them enjoy their new-found independence as they take on our special course.  

Teach Me Balance Bike

What’s it all about: Learning to ride a bike is something you’ll never forget. This fun session focuses on building those early skills to give your little ones more confidence on two wheels, making the transition to a proper bike easier.

Active Cycle

What’s it all about: Feel your heart pounding and your adrenaline pumping as you pedal away in this high-intensity aerobics class on static bikes, burning calories and toning your muscles as you work.

Er verspreid zich een vloek over de wereld en het enige redmiddel is het vinden van de antidote. Die ligt ergens verborgen in een Egyptische tombe. Het is aan jullie om door goede samenwerking de raadsels op te lossen en de codes te kraken. En haast je… de tijd tikt in de Escape Room.

Nieuw: Aquapark Splash in Port Zélande

Waterratten opgelet: Center Parcs Port Zélande heeft haar deuren opnieuw geopend voor Aquapark Splash. Deze hele zomer kan je je hier vermaken door te klimmen, glijden en plonzen in het water! Waterpret gegarandeerd!

Een uniek speelparadijs

Het waterpark is het zusje van het Aquapark Splash in Hellevoetsluis: het grootste water speelparadijs in Nederland. Het speelparadijs in Port Zélande is een reusachtig waterparcours van luchtkussens midden op het open en ondiepe water. Het parcours bestaat uit 48 opblaasbare attracties en is maar liefst 48 meter lang! Klimmen, klauteren, glijden en plonzen maar! Of doe een wedstrijdje wie het eerst boven is of alle unieke speelattracties van het lange parcours als eerste heeft overwonnen. Het waterpark biedt verkoeling aan, maar vooral plezier, voor jong en oud.

Veiligheid staat centraal

Het meest ideale aan Aquapark Splash is dat het parcours op een ondiep water is aangelegd. Dat betekent dat de kinderen veilig spelen en direct weer staan als ze van een attractie afglijden. Er is de hele dag door personeel aanwezig om toezicht te houden. De kinderen dienen wel in bezit te zijn van minimaal zwemdiploma A. En wil je liever droog blijven? Dan kan je ook heerlijk relaxend met een drankje vanaf het terras de kids zien spelen op het water. Het terras geeft je een goed overzicht op Aquapark Splash.

Dalen biedt unieke kidsroute tijdens Drentse Fiets4Daagse

Al is Dalen in de ban van Zuidenveld, binnenkort is Dalen startplaats voor de jaarlijkse Drentse Fiets4Daagse van dinsdag 24 tot en met vrijdag 27 juli. Nieuw is de Kidsroute voor kinderen in de basisschoolleeftijd op donderdag 26 juli.

De route is 30 kilometer lang en de kinderen met hun ouders of anderen beleven onderweg allerlei bijzondere, verrassende activiteiten. Er wordt onderweg gezorgd voor drinken met wat lekkers.

Op de fiets door Plopsa Indoor

De route is aangegeven met pijlen. De tocht gaat over het terrein van Center Parcs De Huttenheugte en de kinderen mogen met hun fiets door Plopsa Indoor rijden. Daar worden zij verwelkomd door populaire Studio-100-figuren. Onderweg is er ook nog een fietsclinic en wordt een eierboerderij bezocht.

Starten voor deze bijzondere tocht op donderdag 26 juli kan tussen 8.30 en 9.00 uur vanaf het centrale plein bij de kerk in Dalen. Na afloop krijgen de kinderen een medaille. De organisatie wil graag tevoren weten hoeveel kinderen er meedoen.

A family of hedgehogs loves Center Parcs too

Just outside one of our lodges at Woburn Forest, tucked behind the cycle rack, a family of six hedgehogs, with mum and her five babies.

This is where the mummy hedgehog must have had her nest and raised her little ones there ever since. The hoglets (baby hedgehogs) and their mum were discovered by our Technical Services team who heard them scratching and snuffling around.

Our Woburn Forest Conservation Ranger Lucie went to check they were okay and estimated they are around 8 weeks old. With the dry, hot weather, Lucie made sure she left the hedgehog family some water and let the guests know why there was a bowl of water outside their lodge.

The family who was stopping in the lodge became quite attached to the hedgehog family, and with Lucie put out a pouch of cat food so that the hedgehogs were well fed, and the family could have an evening encounter with the hedgehog family. The bowl of water was then filled each day, and the family began to look after the hedgehogs like an extension of their own family, making sure the hedgehogs were all there when the family returned from their day of adventures.

If you have a little family of hedgehogs near you – either at Center Parcs or at home – in this hot, dry weather please place a bowl of water out for them if they are regular visitors just to help them during the summer.

Centerparcservaringenforum overgenomen door het CenterParcsForum

Niet alleen bedrijven in de recreatiesector zijn onderhevig aan kwaliteitsimpulsen en consolidatie. Ook twee grote fanwebsites van CenterParcs zien een meerwaarde in samenwerking. De beide fora hebben lang gewerkt aan de overname, de eerste gesprekken dateren immers van 1 jaar geleden.

Op 4 juli 2018 hebben de beheerders van beide fora de overeenkomst feestelijk getekend, waarbij wij gastvrij werden ontvangen in het business-center van de Eemhof.

Mariëtte Cras, voormalig eigenaresse van het Centerparcservaringenforum: "Ik ben erg blij dat wij en onze leden zich kunnen aansluiten bij het CenterParcsForum. Na jaren van naast elkaar werken aan het beste informatieplatform over CenterParcs, kwam ik tot de beslissing dat samenwerking de beste optie was. Daarom ben ik verheugd dat beide fora nu als 1 geheel de toekomst ingaan.

Center Parcs Serves Up €5.2m In Contracts To Irish Food Companies

Center Parcs has announced the awarding of food supplier contracts to four Irish food companies for its Center Parcs Longford Forest resort, due to open in summer 2019, worth a combined total of €5.2 million. 

 The companies in question and the produce they will supply are:

Dublin based Keelings will be the fresh produce and dairy supplier;

Family run Heaney Meats in Galway will supply fresh meat;

Coleraine based Lynas Foodservice and Antrim based Henderson Foodservice will be the premium foodservice partners to Center Parcs Longford Forest

Center Parcs offers family short breaks in a tranquil forest setting. Accommodation includes a fully-equipped kitchen, however guests have a number of dining options which range from cafés and restaurants throughout the resort, to take-away dining or self-catering in their own lodges.  The above four food suppliers will supply the full range of fresh produce to support the provision of these dining options at Center Parcs.

Commenting on the contracts, Center Parcs CEO Martin Dalby said,"We are delighted to work with these companies to ensure the food and beverage offering at our forest resort in Ireland is a very high standard.  We selected these companies as they share a similar ethos to Center Parcs – they value customer service and quality.

‘Mijn man mist soms de tropen, maar in Center Parcs tref je eigenlijk hetzelfde aan’

Een baby was Laura Scholte toen ze voor het eerst in Center Parcs kwam. En ze is haar hele leven vaste bezoeker gebleven van het park. Center Parcs – voorheen Sporthuis Centrum – werd in eerste instantie bekend om zijn in de natuur gelegen luxe huisjes met kleurentelevisie . Later kwamen er de subtropische zwemparadijzen bij, die samen met de horeca onder een zogenoemde Market Dome liggen. Scholte (38) is er inmiddels al 26 keer een week op vakantie geweest.

Scholte ontmoette haar man op de Filippijnen tijdens een project voor haar studie sociale geografie – ze brachten zelfs hun huwelijksreis door in een Center Parcs. In Het Heijderbos, waar naast een subtropisch zwemparadijs ook een Jungle Dome is aangelegd: een nagebootst oerwoud waar de bezoeker over touwbruggen kan klimmen om vervolgens neer te ploffen voor een tosti of cornetto: „Mijn man mist soms de tropen, maar naar de Filippijnen vliegen is hartstikke duur en in Center Parcs tref je eigenlijk hetzelfde aan. Ook daar heb je een kabbelend beekje met palmbomen. Ook daar kun je lekker tot in de late uurtjes op een tropisch terras zitten."

Inmiddels is het stel twaalf jaar samen en dat vierden ze onlangs in Center Parcs De Kempervennen. Bij de boodschappen die ze meenamen zaten een fles champagne, kaarsjes en een mooi tafelkleed. „Ik neem zo veel mogelijk boodschappen mee, want ik ga tijdens zo'n week nooit het park uit. Ik weet dat sommigen het doen, maar Center Parcs is voor mij precies zoals de oude slogan: A State of Happiness. Een bezoek aan Valkenswaard hoort daar gewoon niet bij."

Center Parcs Ranger makes a feathered friend

Mike has recently adopted a young Magpie from the bottom of his neighbour’s garden after the neighbour was concerned no parents had come back to rescue or care for the little one.

Hearing his neighbour’s concern, Mike intervened to save the bird and took it into his care. At just one week old, the little bird needed help feeding so Mike spent that evening, dropping water into the chick’s mouth. The next day the chick was drinking down water and mouthfuls of mealworms. Since then, the ranger has brought the chick, affectionately named Charlie, into work at Sherwood Forest. Charlie would perch on Mike’s shoulder, hopping and stretching his wings.

Mike, who works with a team of ten rangers at Sherwood Forest Center Parcs knows that whilst this is a very special bond, this relationship will be short-lived. He says:

“When he’s ready to go, he’ll go and that is what we wanted for him. To see him now so active and happy, compared with how he was, so weak at the end of someone’s garden, is wonderful and it only goes to show that just a bit of kindness to nature, goes a very long way.”
