Holiday village hit by bike thefts

Thieves have stolen around £40,000 worth of bikes from Center Parcs since April, it has emerged.

People staying at the New Ollerton holiday park are being targeted by local crooks who are gaining access to the site and stealing the cycles.

The news emerged when a 28-year-old Warsop man appeared before Mansfield Magistrates’ Court last week, charged with the theft of two bikes and criminal damage.

Lawyers told the court that £40,000 worth of bikes had been taken from the park since the start of the financial year - an average of around £1,600 per week.

William Green, of Meden Avenue was jailed for 16 weeks on Wednesday for two thefts on Tuesday 2nd and Sunday 6th October. He also admitted causing criminal damage, by using wire cutters to snip his way out of the site.
