We have another teaser on the Sports Café new menu and it’s just as exciting as the last. A new addition to the delicious menu is a range of warming, holistic artisanal teas. To find our all about the new addition, we asked James Haywood what to expect from the new range.
We’re super excited about the artisanal tea menu, can you tell us which flavours you’ve chosen?
The tea menu includes a premium range of teas from Twinings, which are served in these amazing, delicate faux-silk bags. There’s a range of great flavours, so I’d say a few to look out for are the Superfruity, Apple and Elderflower Green Tea and Passion Fruit Ceylon.
They sound amazing, but why tea, and why Sports Café?
In the past, we haven’t taken tea seriously. But with more people drinking herbal teas because of the health benefits, I thought it was time to review our selection. I decided that the tea menu deserved the same quality feel as the rest of the menu.
Which is your favourite?
It honestly depends on the time of day. In the morning I would choose The Mighty Assam to get going, but during the day it would be the Superfruity.
I hear you spent time with Twinings and even The London School of Tea?
Yes, I went to visit the Twinings head office and met with Lucy Chappell who is the head of The London School of Tea. It was a fascinating visit with an amazing tea tasting session where I got to learn about the tea we’re going to be serving.
Did they teach you the secret to the perfect cup of tea?
They did, and I found that it’s a very particular process! They said the perfect length of time to infuse tea is between three and four minutes, depending on personal taste.
Have the Sports Café teams been specially tea-trained?
Yes, it’s really important to us that all our teams are behind the new menu. So they’ve all had training from Lucy, where they were introduced to the flavour profiles of the tea, the caffeine content, how to serve and the infusion times.
Overall I am so pleased with everything on the new Sports Café menu as we’re once again raising the bar with our biggest menu change we’ve ever done at Center Parcs. Touch wood, it’s going to work and guests will love it.
The wait for the launch of the new Sports Café menu is nearly over, in the meantime, if you missed our reveal of the new craft beer selection, check it out here.
